Hello! I am Francisco Lima, associate professor at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in Brazil, where I currently teach Inclusive Education and train audio describers. I was born in 1964, and I am totally blind from birth. I’m married and I have two children, Matheus and Laura.

I am very happy that you are here. I hope you take the time to learn about people with disability, the barriers we face and the possibilities everyone has to help removing them.

As a professor of inclusive education since 2002, as a researcher in the field of psychophysics since 1996 and as a father of a child who is blind and has autism, I am a restless advocate for the human rights of people who have any disability.

You can count on me as a professor to help you out with your disability or of that of your beloved one: a student, a friend, a relative or a sibling, anybody!
And I invite you to join me in fighting for the right of people with disability to gain access to housing, health, education, culture, work and leisure with equal opportunities, equal access to whatever service or product is available to those who have no disability.

An example of how you can help doing all that at once is involving yourself with the so-called assistive technoligy known as Audio Description. Therefore, I am also here to invite you to write audio descriptions, to voice them, to help us polish them! Let us work together, learn together, have a nice time together, while providing accessibility for pictures and videos to be seen by people who are blind or have low vision.

Last but not least, I’m a big enthusiastic for arts, media, performing arts, literature and Pantagruelian banquets :).

Catch Me here.

Be welcome, enjoy and benefit from the content of this site!
